- NRC - License Renewal Application for Kewaunee Nuclear Plant Available for Public Inspection: The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced today that an application for a 20-year renewal of the operating license for the Kewaunee nuclear power plant is available for public review. The Kewaunee Power Station has one pressurized water reactor, and is located 27 miles east of Green Bay, Wis. The current operating license expires Dec. 21, 2013. Kewaunee?s operator, Dominion Energy Kewaunee, Inc., submitted the application Aug. 14. The application is available on the NRC Web site at this address: http://www.nrc .gov/reactors/ operating/lice nsing/renewal/ applications.h tml. A copy is also available at the Kewaunee Public Library, 822 Juneau St., in Kewaunee.
- Decision to renew Indian Point license delayed | lohud.com | The Journal News: Federal regulators will delay a decision on renewing Indian Point's license to operate for an additional four months, to allow for more time to evaluate safety and environmental issues. A decision was expected within 22 to 30 months from the date of application by the company, which wants to continue operating at the Buchanan site until 2035. The current license would required shutting down the plant in 2015, if an extension is not granted.
