U.S. pledges aid in making S.D. shine in solar-powered program

The U.S. Department of Energy yesterday pledged nearly $500,000 in grants and technical assistance to San Diego as part of an effort to make the city a national model for solar power production. The money isn't for installing solar panels. Much of it will go toward creating a plan to expand solar use in the city and, ultimately, the region.
